MITEC PPV
MITEC was honoured to be involved in the national strategy of the COVID-19 vaccination programme. The largest exhibition Centre in Malaysia transformed into a mega vaccine administration Centre (PPV) on 31st May.
Its size, central location, convenient access and ample parking space along with the Centre’s facilities which is friendly for persons with disabilities and provided easy solutions to social distancing and stringent SOPs were among the important criteria for its selection to be a mega PPV.
The medical operation of the MITEC PPV was managed jointly by Departments of Health Titiwangsa and Manjalara under the Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH).
MITEC PPV started with administering 2,600 doses daily in the trial phase and escalated to over 12,000 doses a day at its peak. Two multifunction halls housed the vaccine administration. The PPV came to a close on 22 August, having administered almost 590,000 doses in its 92 days of operations. It was an honour for MITEC to serve 105,000 meals to frontliners and work alongside all frontliners – the healthcare organisers, volunteer groups, defence forces and cleaning and sanitizing crew. We are grateful and humbled by the generosity of sponsors who contributed food and beverage and other essentials.
It was truly a display of national pride, selflessness, concerted effort, all in true spirit of ‘Kita Jaga Kita’.
PIKAS Vaccination Centre at MITEC
MITEC is happy to collaborate in the Public-Private Partnership COVID-19 Industry Immunisation Programme (PIKAS) with its appointment as a designated industrial vaccination centre on 10 Jul 2021. This partnership was significant in accelerating vaccination among the Malaysian labour and workforce in efforts to reduce COVID-19 clusters, protect and mobilise the manufacturing sector for economic recovery.
The PIKAS centre at MITEC was dedicated to companies from the manufacturing sectors under the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI).
The Malaysian Association of Convention and Exhibition Organisers and Suppliers (MACEOS), in collaboration with the Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB) had also introduced the Business Events (BE) Steward Programme in support of the national vaccination drive. The programme saw Business Event (BE) practitioners and venue management teams, as non-healthcare frontliners, assist in the administration of the PIKAS Vaccination Centre at MITEC.
