#myWorld programme with its tagline of Creating a Positive Impact for a Sustainable Future is MITEC’s brand promise and practices to work towards reducing its environmental impact and drive sustainability.

This programme is also a commitment to achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), otherwise known as the Global Goals. SDGs entails a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure that all enjoy peace and prosperity.

As a strong advocate of corporate responsibility, MITEC’s #myWorld programme encourages stakeholders to be involved with the Centre’s strive to produce better experiences for a better planet and reduced environmental footprint.

GREEN BUILDING INDEX (GBI) CERTIFICATION

The GBI certification recognizes MITEC's efforts in incorporating sustainable design elements, such as energy-efficient systems, green roofs, and water-saving features into its building design and operations. MITEC's GBI certification exemplifies its dedication to environmental responsibility and sustainability, setting a benchmark for green buildings in Malaysia and beyond.

TEMPERATURE

The MITEC building incorporates sustainable design elements such as horizontal sun shading devices and roof insulation to effectively mitigate heat gain, while the use of Low-E glass filters out heat radiation. Additionally, the building’s green landscape features also work to minimize the heat island effect.

AIR

MITEC ensures that its indoor air quality meets the ASHRAE/UBBL requirements. To maintain optimal air quality and ventilation, the building is equipped with state-of-the-art CO2 monitoring systems that continuously monitor and regulate air quality, even in basement carparks, ensuring a healthy and comfortable environment for occupants while prioritizing sustainability.

WATER

MITEC utlises recycled water for fire system checks, harvests rainwater, and employs water-efficient fittings and efficient ACMV systems, resulting in a significant reduction of water consumption by up to 40%. This not only helps conserve precious freshwater resources and reduce strain on local water supplies, but also contributes to overall water sustainability efforts, promoting responsible water management practices at MITEC.

ELECTRICITY

MITEC incorporates electric vehicle (EV) charging stations in its premises promoting the use of electric vehicles, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and supporting a cleaner transportation ecosystem. Moreover, MITEC has installed motion and occupancy sensors in its facilities to optimize the consumption of electricity for escalators, lights, offices, and toilets only when needed.

HYDROPONIC FARM

MITEC’s hydroponic farm uses water-efficient hydroponic techniques to grow crops, reducing water consumption and environmental impact. By promoting local and sustainable food production, MITEC’S hydroponic farm plays a role in supporting the SDG related to responsible consumption and production, and fostering sustainable agriculture practices.

Pantai Saujana Project

MITEC partners with the MMICare Association for the Pantai Saujana Project, a dedicated initiative aimed at empowering and educating our youth on essential aspects of hygiene and overall wellness.

Through a series of engaging workshops and discussions, the group of 70 multiracial students acquired valuable insights, empowering them to make informed decisions. Topics covered included female reproductive hygiene and the health risks of smoking for men.

MITEC eagerly anticipates forming impactful partnerships beyond just business, encompassing a broader community such as empowering youth and nurturing a thriving society for all.


The Inclusive Outdoor Classroom

In the spirit of giving and compassion, MITEC joins forces with The Inclusive Outdoor Classroom, a local NGO dedicated to supporting special needs children.

Together, the children and MITECians have taken part in a range of activities, including a friendly football match in US, Subang Jaya, and more recently, at MITEC where the children enjoyed cupcake decorating, drum circle, and performances.

We look forward to more collaborations with organisations that share our dedication to fostering a more inclusive and improved community environment for everyone.


Herb Garden and Hydroponic Farm

MITEC’s hydroponic farm and herb garden allows us to cultivate vegetables and herbs on-site, reducing our environmental footprint, enhancing culinary experiences at the Garden Court Café with freshness and flavour, and contributing to the discourse on sustainable supply chains.

We are also firmly committed to the sustainability of local suppliers through strategic partnerships. By collaborating with them, we actively bolster the social, environmental, and economic aspects of our supply chain, thus playing a pivotal role in minimising our collective environmental impact.


Food Aid

MITEC supports local NGOs, the Food Aid Foundation, and local communities by extending help to theunderprivileged and those affected by natural disasters.

Through these partnerships, we strive to make a meaningful and positive impact in our community, ensuring that those facing adversity receive the assistance they need to lead better lives and to recover from challenging times.

Sunway University and Taylor's University Education Series

On the 20th of October 2022, MITEC had the distinct honour of hosting the debut announcement of The MICHELIN Guide. This remarkable event was made possible through a collaborative partnership between Taylor's University's Hospitality division and Sunway University's Culinary division, offering students a truly immersive and authentic service experience in the service and culinary art industries.

We eagerly anticipate more of such collaborations to support graduate, executive leadership, and work skill programmes, transforming MITEC into a premier learning hub for students.

The Diplomatic & Corporate Female Leadership Breakfast

The Diplomatic & Corporate Female Leadership Breakfast, hosted at the Garden Court Café (GCC), served as a casual networking event aimed at fostering connections among women in diplomatic and corporate spheres to further support economic, commercial, cultural, and scientific relations.

MITEC is committed to promoting gender equality, female empowerment in the business landscape, and, ultimately, a more equitable and prosperous world.

KL Food Truck Association

MITEC is actively supporting local SMEs by creating business opportunities for local food truck vendors during mega exhibitions held at the Centre.

Additionally, this initiative serves as a platform to introduce an enriching Malaysian food culture bazaar concept for international delegates to immerse themselves in.


KLEAN

At MITEC, we offer easy access to the Al-powered Reverse Vending Machine (RVM) by KLEAN. This machine allows citizens to deposit their PET plastic bottles and aluminium cans. In return, KLEAN rewards recyclers with KLEAN points, which can be collected on the KLEAN app available on Google Play and App Store.

These points can then be accumulated and redeemed for special deals from KLEAN's reward partners, including Grab, Lotus's, Petronas Setel, Touch 'n Go, and more! It's a convenient way to recycle and get rewarded for your efforts.


Community Clean-up Initiative

In pursuit of our commitment to creating a healthier, cleaner and, and more sustainable environment, MITEC joined forces with volunteers from the Sentul Police District, Sri Hartamas Fire Department, and Alam Flora WPKL Segambut in a clean-up operation to remove litter around the Dutamas neighbourhood where MITEC is located.

The 2-hour gotong-royong resulted in removing litter from a sprawling 2,000 sqm of the Dutamas neighbourhood and its public spaces.

This collaborative effort exemplifies the power of teamwork in achieving our shared goal of a better environment for all. It reminds us that when individuals and organizations come together with a common purpose, remarkable things can happen.

Asia School of Business & Perdana Fellows Alumni Association Partnerships

MITEC partners with various organizations and institutions to foster knowledge sharing and drive progress in various areas of expertise.

This includes our partnership with the Asia School of Business (ASB) and Maybank Senior Leadership team for the ASB-M25U0 Industry Insights programme as well as the Perdana Fellows Alumni Association to harness youth's potential.

Throughout these programmes, MITEC's top management leaders share their experiences and insights on inclusive leadership.

Additionally, they outline their vision to propel MITEC towards a future characterised by sustainability and digital innovation.


Be The Change 2022 Celebration

In collaboration with Impact Hub KL MITEC hosted the Be The Change 2022 Celebration, themed "Happy People, Happy Planet: Designing a Happier Future Together," in honour of World Children's Day.

This exciting global two-day event united children from 26 countries to celebrate leadership, child empowerment, healthy growth, and impactful learning experiences that cultivate an engaging learning experience, delivering positive social and environmental impacts.

Together, we aim to unlock children's full potential across all life stages and create a safe, nurturing ecosystem for them.


Kind Malaysia

MITEC proudly serves as the Event Partner and Official Venue Host for Kind Malaysia, a dynamic two-day event and expo that brings together like-minded individuals from non-profit organizations, responsible corporations, and small-to-medium-sized enterprises, fostering connections built on the principle of KINDNESS toward our community.

Kind Malaysia aims to highlight and promote the importance of kindness within corporate setups, providing support for the implementation of diverse CSR and ESG initiatives.

Through MITEC's #myWorld programme, we are committed to giving back to Malaysia and the local community, and we enthusiastically encourage our team members, partners, and clients to join us in creating better experiences for a more sustainable planet.


Absolut Bazaar X Festival Gaya Raya

MITEC collaborates with MyEvents International and Absolut Event & Management to successfully host the second edition of the Absolut Bazaar X Festival Gaya Raya 2023 (ABXFGR23) with MITEC as the official venue partner.

The Raya festival took place for 66 hours non-stop in conjunction with the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration. During the first edition, 1.2 million visitors visited the festival at MITEC. This year, ABXFGR23 witnessed an even more remarkable turnout, with over 1.65 million attendees.

This renowned event offers a diverse array of indoor and outdoor activities, featuring over 500 vendors offering an extensive selection of shopping and dining options. It also plays a pivotal role in boosting the nation's economy, providing a valuable platform for local entrepreneurs and SME owner to showcase and sell their products, thereby also creating employment opportunities for our community.
