IMPRESSIVE
TURNKEY FACILITIES

Inspiring innovative professionalism

The icon of the KL Metropolis
masterplan.

The Malaysia International Trade & Exhibition Centre (MITEC) was conceived with the ultimate aim of positioning Malaysia as the preferred business events destination in the region. Exceeding 45,000 sqm of exhibition space, the venue spans immense double volume floors and boasts the nation’s largest pillar-less exhibition hall.

MITEC consists of 11 exhibition halls across three levels, ballrooms, 13 meeting rooms, VIP suites and organizers’ offices, and is the jewel of the KL Metropolis masterplan: to be Kuala Lumpur’s new international trade and exhibition district.

DESIGNING
THE IMAGINARIUM

Meaningful form and function

Modern, sinuous, grace.

MITEC’s design is revolutionary, yet its shape is reminiscent of the rubber seed – paying homage to the rubber industry’s contribution to Malaysia’s economic growth. Conceptually, a seed also symbolises a promise of great things to come, a promise of future growth, of abundance in the industry.
The sinuous design of MITEC similarly mirrors growth in the upward-undulating lines of the front façade, the breath-taking, light-bathed main entrance and the graceful fluidity of its Songket-inspired facade and architectural features. Functionally, the resulting shape also maximises adaptable, effective and efficient serviceable space.

#TASTEFULLY DIFFERENT

Adding spice to your event

“Food is an integral part of Malaysian Culture.”

Food is a universal thing that really has the power to bring everyone together. At MITEC, a team of dedicated chefs offer event organisers a flexible and customisable menu of international and local cuisine to transform any event into a memorable occasion and to complement and enhance visitor experience.

MITEC’s world-class kitchen and talented staff are equipped and ready to provide sumptuous cuisine and skilfully-crafted menus highlighting fresh seasonal ingredients to delightfully accent galas, receptions, and convenient, flavourful meals, all simultaneously served in any and all the meeting venues in the centre. Food trucks are a great alternative, injecting a piquant “local flavour” into exhibition events.

RESPONSIBLE DESIGN

Eco-forward and socially responsive

MITEC’s construct, facility and operations were designed and put into effect around Environmental Best Practices intended to improve energy savings and water efficiency whilst reducing CO2 emissions. It leverages recycled water and non-toxic materials that reduces environmental impact and provide a healthy indoor environment for employees and guests.

  • Temperature

Horizontal sun shading devices and roof insulation lowers heat gain. Low E-glass filters heat. Green landscape minimises the heat island effect.

  • Water

Fire system checks use recycled water. We harvest rainwater, use water-efficient fittings, and efficient ACMV that reduce water consumption by 40%.

  • Air

Indoor air quality meets ASHRAE/UBBL requirements. CO2 monitoring systems maintain air quality and ventilation, even in basement carparks.

  • Electricity

Motion and occupancy sensors optimise the consumption of electricity draws for escalators and lights at offices and toilets.

 #myWorld

“Triple bottom line sustainability People, Planet and Profit”

In line with the UN world tourism Organisation(UNWTO) objective of developing “responsible, sustainable and universally accessible tourism”, MITEC has inspired its staff to be economically, environmentally and socially responsible, giving back to the community at large. This is #myWorld and they take ownership.

MITEC has developed the key pillars of policies and systems to help balance “people, planet and profit”. They plant trees, redistribute food, engage the young and developing, invite SMEs to the table and market proudly, the Malaysian Experience. Profits cannot and must not be expense of society or the environment.

CONCERTS AND SPORTS

Creating experiences to remember

The high-ceilings, pillar-less, expandable spaces that MITEC boasts translate to an incredibly changeable location, flexible enough for the SEA Games and more importantly, accessible enough for the ASEAN Para Games 2017. Back-of-house loading was also vital in setup for musical and variety shows, like The XX concert 2018, whose stage, lights, amps and 3500 fans turned MITEC into a massive dance floor.

Home

PRIVATE EVENTS

Creating world class occasions

Scalability being key, MITEC has been a coveted venue for fashion trade shows, travel fairs, medical conferences and celebrations like grand society weddings. Multiple points of access, service areas and entrances, fully equipped kitchens, grand reception areas – all cogs in a clockwork, working in tandem, no matter the size of the throng.
